Hotel Hermitage invites its guests to experience this unique landscape through a journey that combines hiking, discovery, and respect for nature. Thanks to the "Bayettes, a Private Nature Reserve" project, developed in collaboration with Ecoluxury Retreats of the World, the trail connecting Avouil to the Bobba Mountain Hut becomes an immersive journey of landscape interpretation.

The natural reserve

Les Bayettes is a private nature reserve spanning more than 400 hectares, nestled between 2,000 and 3,300 metres above sea level in the Marmore Valley. An alpine ecosystem of extraordinary value, open to the public, where nature continues to follow its most authentic rhythms.

Flora and fauna

This is home to chamois, ibex, marmots, birds of prey, and a rich variety of alpine flora, within an environment that represents one of the most important natural treasures of the Matterhorn region.

Interpretive Panels

Along the trail, a series of scientific and educational panels accompany the journey, revealing the geological history of the Matterhorn, the evolution of high-altitude flora and fauna, the ancient pastoral practices that have shaped this landscape, and the challenges that climate change is now posing to alpine ecosystems.
